Edith Cavell PS JK-G8 – Regular Track

Edith Cavell Public School opened in 1919 in the neighbourhood of Western Hill. The original school contained 8 classrooms, an office for the principal and secretary, a nurse’s room and a full-size gymnasium with a stage. In 1951, a 2-story addition was added with 13 additional classrooms. The school was named after a British nurse who was celebrated for saving the lives of soldiers from both sides of World War 1. Jeanne Sauvé French Immersion Public School serves students from Grade One to Grade Eight. We opened our doors in September, 2014. In 1923 following World War I at a time when there was an increasing demand for technical education, the St. Catharines Collegiate Institute and Vocational School was constructed at its present site.
