Edith Cavell Public School opened in 1919 in the neighbourhood of Western Hill. The original school contained 8 classrooms, an office for the principal and secretary, a nurse’s room and a full-size gymnasium with a stage. In 1951, a 2-story addition was added with 13 additional classrooms. The school was named after a British nurse who was celebrated for saving the lives of soldiers from both sides of World War 1. In the fall of 1954, St. Anthony Catholic Elementary School was established on the site of the O’Brien farm. In 1982, St. Mary School was twinned with St. Anthony. In 1995, an addition was built to accommodate the growing population. Most recently, in 2012, St. Anthony Catholic Elementary School saw the addition of three Early Years Classrooms, an outside courtyard and extensive renovations to the playground area. Sir Winston Churchill SS – G9-12 Regular Track & French Immersion

Sir Winston was founded in 1959, and named after the former British Prime Minister, known mainly for his leadership of the United Kingdom during World War II. Its campus features an all-weather, artificial turf, football/soccer/lacrosse field(to be completed in August 2017), an all-weather track, a parking lot, and a two-story building. The building includes a gymnasium with multiple changing rooms for boys and girls as well as showers, a weight room, and an auditorium. A brand new, two-level, cafeteria was completed in 2013. The old cafeteria has been converted into a larger library, while the old library has been converted into two classrooms. SWC is a barrier-free facility, courtesy of elevator access to all levels. The school’s colours are navy blue and gold, and its mascot is the Bulldog.
